The Lithuanian ERASMUS+ National Agency together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania is organising an international conference for the stakeholders in higher education (HE) field. The main aim of the conference is to spot achievements and challenges of Bologna process from the perspective of quality assurance, to share good practice, and to discuss further perspectives.

It will offer participants the opportunity to:

  • Exchange information and experiences on implementation of Bologna process;
  • Informal networking, work in groups, discussing and developing ideas.

Programme
Speakers

The conference is dedicated to discussing the tasks ahead in implementation of changes after adoption of new documents in Yerevan in 2015, both on European and national level. The development of external and internal quality assurance in higher education, involvement of students in quality assurance processes – all these questions will be in focus of the discussions at the event.

The key-note speech will be delivered by one of the creator of European Standards and Guidelines on QA (ESG) in 2005 and the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR), Mr. Lucien Bollaert, Vice-Chair of the European Quality Assurance Register Committee, former Member of the Board of the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).

Our guest from the United Kingdom Mr. Lee Jones, Associate Director for Collaborative Provision at Leeds Becket University, will reflect on current internal quality management practice and the impact of the proposed review of quality assessment and the proposed teaching excellence framework in the UK. The presenter will also share initial findings of UK Quality Strategy Network (QSN) report on the “Use of Management Data to Support Academic Quality Assurance”.

Mr. Paulius Baltokas, President of Lithuanian Students Union, and Mr. Andrius Zalitis, Vice- President of Lithuanian Students Union, will analyse involvement of students in quality assurance, both external and internal, in Lithuania.

Main findings from the first cycle of external institutional review in Lithuania will be presented by Mrs. Nora Skaburskienė, Acting Director of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (Lithuania).

Mr. Giedrius Viliūnas, Vice-rector of Mykolas Romeris University, will present the recommendations for policy makers in Lithuania developed by the national Bologna experts group for higher education in the framework of the EHEA reforms, and will discuss further directions in implementation of Bologna reforms.

The target audience of the conference is quality managers of higher education institutions, academic and administrative staff, staff from quality assurance agencies, policy makers from the Ministries of Education and other public institutions, student representatives, as well as academics working in HE quality research and EHEA national experts. The event will gather approximately 100 participants from different countries.
