Conference on Young researchers in Europe
This EU French Presidency Conference should raise young researchers' awareness about the setting up of the European Partnership for Researchers for a more open and attractive European research area.
The conference should raise the awareness of young researchers about the setting up of a partnership for a more open and attractive European research area, designed to enhance researchers’ careers and mobility.
Today, just 3% of European researchers have worked in another European country for more than a short period. Once it has identified the main barriers to mobility, the European Union wishes to encourage the mobility of researchers and circulation of knowledge by:
- opening up recruitment procedures to applications from abroad;
- meeting the social security protection and retirement needs of mobile researchers;
- establishing fair employment and working conditions;
- ensuring that researchers have the appropriate training and skills.
This conference should be an opportunity for the different European partners to meet and exchange views for comparing best practices and defining innovative proposals. It should also lead to identifying practical approaches for action to favour the mobility of researchers and the circulation of knowledge within the framework of the European Partnership for Researchers.
