Work programme of the Bologna Follow-Up Group 2005-2007
International Conference on Higher Education, Ankara, Turkey
The International Conference on Higher Education was organized by the Turkish Council of Higher Education on 14-15 of November 2005, in Ankara, Turkey. The theme of the Conference was the recent developments in Higher Education and the Turkish practice with emphasis placed on the concept of the European Higher Education Area.
The conference consisted of three sessions:
Under the first session on the Monday morning, a panel titled “Past, Present and Future of the Bologna Process” was held. The first panel was chaired by Prof. Germain Dondelinger gave an overall assessment of the Bologna Process including both the past experiences and the objectives and priorities to be achieved in the next two years.
The second session took place on the Monday afternoon and covered some selected issues on the Bologna Process; namely the “Overarching Qualifications Framework in Europe”, “Quality Assurance in Europe” and the “Relationship between Higher Education and Economy”.
Finally, the last panel under the third session was planned to be about the “Recent Trends in Higher Education: Country Experiences and the Turkish Practice”, and focussed on the experiences of countries which underwent changes and reforms in their higher education systems and specifically the Turkish practice with a questions and answers part following each session. The Conference concluded with a wrap-up session on late Tuesday afternoon.
