The 4th Working Group on Internationalisation and Mobility Meeting will be held in Vienna, Austria, hosted by UAS Technikum Wien from 29th of April 2026 to 30th of April 2026

On the 28 April 2026 a International Peer Learning Activity will take place with the name “Comprehensive Policy for Comprehensive Internationalisation” with the following Agenda.

Update from the EHEA Secretariat

Feedback from the BFUG Meetings in Copenhagen (Denmark) and Nicosia (Cyprus) regarding the Note on Terminology and the Action Plan's direction and Discussion Paper.

3. Decision Slot I: The Mobility Benchmark

Interactive Session: Deciding on the future of the 20% Leuven target (15 ECTS) in relation to the EU’s 23% target (3 ECTS)

Discussion on different perspectives on benchmarks:

- Setting national targets (e.g., 10% increase over 5 years) to ensure continuous and measurable progress towards the EHEA benchmark

- Incoming mobility targets as supportive to the discussion on balanced mobility.

4. Pillar Workshop: Internationalisation Beyond Mobility

Moving from the draft structure (V2.0) to concrete recommendations.

Focus: Internationalisation at home, intercultural competences, and staff mobility.

"Minister-Check": Evaluating whether recommendations are politically viable for adoption in 2027. “How ambitious can we be / How ambitious do we want to be?”

5. Decision Slot II: Geopolitics & Fundamental Values

How to reflect the changing global context and the protection of fundamental values within the Action Plan.

Wrap-up Day 1

Introduction to the Integrated Approach

Recap of Day 1 and briefing on how to weave barriers into mobility recommendations.

Integrated Work Stations (e.g. Break-out Groups, World Cafe)

Station 1: Administrative & Legal. (Visa, residency permits, and administrative burden).

Station 2: Financial & Social. (Portability of support, student housing, and inclusion of underrepresented groups).

Station 3: Academic & Curricular. (Automatic recognition, mobility windows, and ECTS).

Station 4: Green & Digital. (Sustainable travel, Digitalisation of the Student Journey & New Mobility Formats).

Optional Slot: Balanced Mobility Update

Facultative: Only if preliminary findings or a briefing from the Technopolis study are available.

Alternative: If no data is available, this time will be added to the Drafting Roadmap session.

Drafting Roadmap & Closing

Official Assignment: Defining chapter leads (1-2 persons each) for "Version 3.0" that will be presented to the BFUG in Ireland.

Agreement on timeline for the autumn 2026 BFUG meeting in Ireland.
